Our Aquaponics team has recently won first place in UCLA’s Sustainability Innovation Challenge and earned $50,000 to build a fully-functioning aquaponics facility on the UCLA campus. The system will simultaneously cultivate plants and fish, yielding hundreds of pounds of fresh, nutrient-rich food for students each year. Additionally, it will act in conjunction with the Luskin Hydroponics Project to collect valuable research data on urban farming that will be open for all on our interactive website. Construction of the system is scheduled for Winter 2019, with the first produce yield anticipated in Spring 2019.
